Use
what you have learned about classical conditioning/operant conditioning to
propose a solution to a problem facing your class or school. The problem might
involve several students, a school policy, school facilities, or something from
the your own lives.
Using Operant Conditioning we will remove Jets time and bring back break. Every time it is placed, we will reward Mr. McDonald with a batch of cookies as positive reinforcement.
ReplyDeleteI like this
DeleteThe problem is that students are not attending their JETS time sessions so the staff are going to give free food in each JETS time class to promote attendance. (operant conditioning)-(positive reinforcement)
ReplyDeleteWe will use operant conditioning to stop/decrease the number of failures on grades. We will do this by rewarding the passers and punishing the failures. With the passers we plan to give them a 45 minute break instead of JETS time and with the failures they will have to go to study sessions in JETS time for the classes they are failing, until they bring their grade up.
ReplyDeleteShannon, Miranda, and Breanne have proposed to use an operant conditioning technique as a solution to the dress code problem at our school. We propose that the administration should punish students who violate the dress code by either making them change, sending them home, calling their parents, detention, etc. We also propose that students who go a certain amount of time (say one week) without violating the dress code should be rewarded with break instead of JETS time.
ReplyDeleteI agree that this is operant conditioning. I do not think it will work though, because that is what the school is already doing and obviously girls are still coming to school dressed any type of way.. -to shannon etc group
DeleteJETS Time (Operant Condtioning):
ReplyDeleteWe're going to condition the students to sign up for JETS Time by rewarding students through positive reinforcement.
If you (individually) sign up and attend your JETS sessions 100% of the first two months of school, then you will be allowed a 35 minute break time on Friday's as long as you continue to sign up, or break privilege will be voided.
Other students will be required to attend ASD and if students don't obey these requirements, they will be punished further accordingly. (Each JETS session skipped will equal a day of ASD)
FOR OLIVIA'S GROUP:I agree with this operant conditioning and we believe that the positive reinforcement of a Friday break will give students a goal to achieve.
Delete:) can someone email this to McDonald??!!!
To Olivia's group: I agree that this is positive reinforcement and giving the student's the break for their cooperation to sign up for JETS is a great idea. I believe that all the student's in the school will sign up since they more than likely don't want to be in ASD.
DeleteOne of the major problems at JM is "Jets" time. Then current structure of JETS time is that after the first block class, 30 minutes are set aside for students to be in a specified class to either complete work or partake in a fun activity.
ReplyDeleteJETS time was instituted in order to tutor students who need extra help in a particular class/classes and benefit those students who are in multiple clubs in order to prevent them from having to stay after school.
The problem with JETS time is that the students who are preforming well in their classes are forced to sit there for 30 minutes either doing some pointless activity or doing nothing at all. In order to go about this issue, JETS time should first be moved to the end of the day, and those students who are preforming well have the ability to leave school early instead of having to stay at school for another 30 minutes. In order to be excused from JETS time, students must maintain above an 85 in all of their classes, no more than 5 tardies to any class, and no more than three absences.
This is operant conditioning, where students who preform well in their classes are rewarded with getting to leave school 30 minutes early.
Too much Tanya. Everybody knows what JETS Time origin is.
DeleteHowever, We do agree with your opinions and feel that JETS Time would be best at the end of the day but what about those that ride the bus? Would students that have the 85+ grade and good on attendance still have to stay at school until 3:15 for bus dismissal? Would they just sit around and do nothing?
