Fixing a Problem

Use what you have learned about classical conditioning/operant conditioning to propose a solution to a problem facing your class or school. The problem might involve several students, a school policy, school facilities, or something from the your own lives.

Yellow Journalism

The Spanish American War was influenced greatly by “yellow Journalism.”  Develop an argument either supporting or opposing the following statement:  “Modern news shows are a form of political propaganda very similar to the ‘Yellow Journalism’ of the late 19^th and early twentieth centuries.”

 

In you answer be sure to clearly define what yellow journalism is and give an example from the Spanish –American War (or another example from that period).  Then give modern examples to either buttress or refute the prompt.  Your answer should be approximately 250 words long.  Please read the other contributions to the blog after you make your submission.  Be original!

Creative Classical Conditioning Experiment

In your group, create an experiment that follows classical conditioning. Make sure there is a US, UR, CS, CR. Please explain all of these aspects for your classmates to read. Once everyone has posted their experiment, please respond to one other group. In your response you should evaluate the accuracy of their US, UR, CS, CR. Read all of the experiments. We will be voting on the most accurate and creative experiment for extra credit.

Nationalism

Following the War of 1812 the country experienced a period of nationalism.  Please explain this nationalism and the cause. Also, incorporate the reason behind the phrase "era of good feeling."

Bullying

Bullying has become a problem in your school. It happens in the bathroom, hallways and the gym. Think about what this person is like and what he has done to bother and perhaps frighten others.  Think about what you can do to solve the problem to keep the bully from bothering people.  Write an essay about how the problem of bullying is affecting your class.  First, you will need to explain what the bully does to frighten and annoy others.  Then explain what needs to be done to stop the bullying of your classmates. Include details and descriptions of what to do and explain why your ideas are good ones.
